When IP flourishes, everyone wins.

Georgia is a vibrant & diverse hub for innovation. Critical to that success is Intellectual Property (IP). And as the center of IP in Georgia, the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance® (GIPA #gaipalliance) brings together an exceptional group of people, resources, and expertise to ensure IP prospers right here.

We are inclusive advocates for IP, innovation & creativity. Whether you come from an innovative tech company, creative boutique, or independent artistry – GIPA networking & programs are here to serve all of our citizens & communities. Together we can build confidence and trust in the value and importance of IP to our society.

Mission & Vision

GIPA exists to provide the resources, expertise, and connections to ensure people’s ideas can become a profitable reality.

Just when innovators and creators have become such a vital contributor of our economy and the need for IP has become more apparent, IP has gotten a bad rap.

The need for someone to make sense of it all has become so important. GIPA makes IP less intimidating so that people can successfully bring their ideas to market.

When people come in contact with us we can assure them that no one can provide better resources, expertise, and connections to ensure their ideas can become a profitable reality.

Who is GIPA?

We help creators, enablers, protectors, key influencers and society as a whole experience a fair & trusted journey from ideas to market.

Today we live in a knowledge economy that relies on innovation and creativity. IP plays a critical role, which means a healthy IP ecosystem is essential. Here at GIPA, we ensure every aspect of this ecosystem clicks. Whether it is the innovators who create the ideas, attorneys who identify the legal protections these ideas require, or those who help bring them to market, GIPA brings it all together.

  • As an alliance committed to bringing together all involved in IP, GIPA aspires to be a national and global model for IP that will continually grow and evolve into the future.

  • As an organization driving the success of all, GIPA incorporates and strives for IP diversity & inclusion in everything we do.

  • And, as a coalition committed to making a long-term impact on the IP ecosystem, GIPA supports expanding the understanding of IP at the grassroots level, from schools to incubators, and from local to statewide organizations.

We invite you to explore our site to learn more about GIPA and how you can get involved in empowering intellectual property to advance society.® If you’d like to speak with someone from GIPA, please contact Executive Director Corrine Sukiennik.

How GIPA Serves

Programs that teach, events that connect and leadership that facilitates confident IP understanding for all

CREATE. PROTECT. ENABLE.™ The Georgia IP Alliance offers a rich and evolving calendar of IP ecosystem programming and events for K-12 through career professionals. Many of these gatherings exceed their tenth year; and each brings thought leaders, practitioners, academics, counselors and experts together to discuss key innovation issues and recognize the progress of creativity in everyday IP needs, hot topics and the industries of tomorrow.

K-12 Programs

k-12 patent award Programs

GIPA partners with the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair (GSEF) and K-12 InVenture Prize @ Georgia Tech to raise awareness of intellectual property among young innovators. For both competitions, winning teams receive a patent search to evaluate the patentability of the invention, and in some instances, pro bono assistance with filing a patent application.

Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity & inclusion programs

GIPA recognizes that the definition of success requires deliberate and intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). Only by leveling the IP playing field will all people have equal access to IP protection, and opportunities for professional careers in IP. Efforts include offering programs such as a crash course on “Bias Interruptors” and mock interview programs for diverse students in conjunction with SIPJF.

Ecosystem Initiatives

CORPORATE IP INSTITUTE® (CIPI)

The Corporate IP Institute is an annual two-day conference hosted at the Georgia State University College of Law School each fall and typically draws more than 150 US professionals. It provides a singular forum for corporate in-house IP professionals to discuss issues they face, exchange ideas, and network with peers from both Georgia and nationally.
